How To Insulate A Garage Door
One of the most common garage door problems is that it’s not properly insulated, which can be a money drain. Considering the benefits and the ease of installation, it’s no wonder that insulating garage doors have become commonplace. Your energy bill could shrink, items in your garage will be better protected and getting in and out of your car will be more comfortable.
Insulating garage door kits that make the job easy are available at home centers. Most anyone can do it. It’s likely that you already own the few tools that are needed.
When to Insulate Garage Doors
For comfort, insulating a garage door is best done when temperatures are mild. However, any time of year is okay. Keep in mind that some adhesives may not work well, though, if the temperature is much below freezing during installation. Perhaps wait for a warmer day.
Safety Considerations
Unexpected movement of something as heavy as a garage door can be dangerous. We recommend unplugging, or shutting off the electrical panel, your garage door opener. This will eliminate accidental activation of the door. Work on the door in its down position when possible. Avoid making any door spring adjustments unless you are specifically qualified to do so.
